Small Breed Dog Toilet Training

Precisely why puppy lovers have got this unfounded belief that small dogs are more challenging to condition when compared to medium sized or large breed puppies, I will never be able to comprehend. Small dog training should not be problematic.

Small dog training, is in no way different from training a dog of any other bigger sized breed. Whereas training any canine could have its peculiarities, pertaining to its breed, invariably all other features continue being identical, and the method used to train the dog should not be different, not withstanding its size.

Having said that, I will grant an allowance and accept the argument that small dog training could possibly offer problems in two aspects, (1) Aggression and (2) Puppy Crate Training. However, this is not because the fact that it is a small breed dog, but ten times out of ten, because of the owner.

If a small breed pup is aggressive and cannot be disciplined, or if a tiny breed puppy cannot be potty trained or poses obstacles in being bathroom trained, it is the owner who has unknowingly contributed to this situation. Let us analyze how and why.

Aggression.

Small dogs are liked because they are cute, they are like playthings. Owners delight in having their pet sit on their laps. This specific indulgence is where the difficulty commences. The innate aggressive trait of the dog, is to assert ownership over its space, its food, even its trainer; all dogs desire to be the alpha dog.

It is the hostile streak in the pup that provokes it to get on to the lap of its master, particularly when there are a number of individuals present in the room.

This is a outright act of aggression. Instead of reprimanding the dog, every owner bar none, would pet the pooch, although it jumped on to their lap unbeckoned, developing the aggressive streak in the pup. Therefore the owner has given into the pup’s inherent need to be the alpha dog.

Growling and getting angry at a much bigger dog is another outright act of hostility. To the owner, and even the people who witness it, this is looked on as cute, because one dog is very small while the other is bigger. Most owners praise the puppy instead of scolding it, when it demonstrates this aggression with a larger dog.

The above mentioned are but examples as to why small size breed pups are aggressive, and definitely not because small dog training is complicated.

Toilet Training

Owners have a propensity to carry their small puppies around no matter where they go, even at home and that renders it impossible to toilet train them

It is, as if by instinct that the owners of smallish breed dogs to tote the animal to the area where the pooch should eliminate itself and then lug it back into the house.

It is this practice of carrying the pooch to the outdoors to poop that is the start of all dilemmas. In addition, as the pup is by and large carried around all the time it has no way of it suggesting to or notifying the owner that it has to go to the bathroom.

We just cannot ignore the simple fact that small dog training begins with treating the dog as any other medium sized or larger sized dog. They have to be taken to their bathroom area on a leash. If owners stop carrying their tiny breed dogs they would have no problems in training them.

Dog crate training, is the best part of dog training, and so it can be also in the event of Small Dog Training.

I like dogs because they have real personalities. I like dogs because there are some many types. Some of my favorites are Boxers, Yorkies, Labs, Dalmatians, and Maltese. There always there when you need a companion.

Dogs often give people that relationship needed at the property time. I gave my wife are first dog when I proposed to here. I put the ring around her collar. Are Yorkie is now and forever a big part of our relationship and family. She has brought us together because it’s something that we share. She is a life that’s our responsibility. Puppy training was the first task that we concurred. No matter what type of dog you have we all share common qualities and traits.

I have some friends that have found a love for each other through there dogs. Its funny how people meet and dog parks etc… We all know the puppy trick. You take a puppy down to the beach and you will have some many girls approach you. There great ways to start conversations. Many people have dogs in common.

There are probably a million things I could say I like about dogs. The best thing is everyone can express what they feel about there pet and share there experiences with others.

4 Things To Avoid When Housetraining a Puppy

Let’s face it, as a new dog owner you probably have not taken a canine training class or have studied up on the latest puppy training techniques that are available.

I know where you can get some great dog supplies that will help you train your dog in no time flat.

That’s okay! New puppy owners should not have to go to such lengths just to teach their pups the basics. But like all territories unknown, it is quite easy for novice puppy owners to find lots of ways to mess up simple puppy training, especially when it comes to the process of housetraining.

But you do not have to be one of these novices. To help guide your way towards proper housetraining with your new puppy, below are a few common mistakes that many people make, those of which you should aim to prevent:

1. Irregular schedule: Dogs thrive on repetitiveness and a routine schedule. If you fail to follow a schedule when it comes to taking your puppy to go to the bathroom, feeding times, and even bedtime, this can cause a disruption in the learning process.

For example, let’s say it’s Sunday morning and even though your puppy is waiting for you at the door to go to the bathroom at 7:00 AM (his usual morning potty time), and you feel like sleeping in, do not be surprised if you wake up to a puddle of pee or a stinky pile of poop on the kitchen floor. Adhering to a schedule is absolutely critical to successfully housetrain your puppy.

Number two is Placing your puppy in a crate when you are not able to watch over him will help your dog to develop control over its bladder.

3. Disciplining your puppy after the dirty deed has been done: In other words, if you continually yell and discipline your puppy after he has made a mistake, while not actually in the moment of the act, he will not have the slightest clue as to why he is being punished. This type of harassment will only cause your puppy to be scared of you. Only correct him when you catch him doing something wrong, never after.

If you have a large dog then you may want to get a large dog crate.

The last thing that is a common mistake for pet owners is they leave waste laying around. Immediately when you see the puddle or pile clean it up right then and there! Beware though, some cleaners such as ammonia has the same smell as urine to a dog and they will return to pee there. Do not ignore dog mess, because all you will be doing is saying to your pup that it’s okay for them to go to the bathroom anywhere in the house instead of the correct way.
