Overcoming social anxiety with self confidence.

Posted: under General hot topic.
Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Your social mental health stems from how mentally equipped you are to deal with socializing with others. Even the most popularpeople have at least one time in their life suffered from some form of social shyness.

If you find it difficult to cope with everyday social activities, you are not suffering alone. Social anxiety can form in many different waysmainly because of the sensitive nature of being human and due to there still being a lot of stigma surrounding issues of mental health, most people deny themselves the help that is available.

If we fall ill with a physical disease, we are a lot more open in seeking help. Feeling down is often seen by the individual as a flaw in their character. If you don’t feel quite right around others it is nothing to be ashamed of. As like a physical disease a mental disease can be treated successfully and unlike a physical disease this can be done without medication in most cases.

What is it that gives us mental strength? Well, some of it seems to be genetic. Mental health is well documented to be partially attributable to hereditary factors. Experience also plays a big part when it comes to mental strength. If we are happy with our current lifestyle, we feel more self confident in who we are.

One of the major causes of social shyness is the lack of self confidence. If you feel comfortable with yourself that feeling will radiate from you as self confidence which in turn will be picked up by others who will then perceive you in a different way.

One of the best ways to build self confidence is to do a reality check on yourself every now and again. You need to think whether you are taking too much on, try to keep a focus on your priorities. It can be tempting to try to take on more and more things to forget about social anxiety, this is a self defeating strategy. Be smart in the choosing the extra activities you take on; for instance, take up a sport or hobby as that is one of the best ways to build your self confidence.

You need to remember to start looking after yourself, as if you don’t like yourself how can you expect others to like you?

Gift Ideas for the Young and Young at Heart

The holidays are just around the corner and if you are like me you’re trying to figure out just what to get for your family, friends and loved ones. It is really important to me to get the “perfect” gift for each person in my life, which can take some time and effort. Here are some gift ideas I’ve come up with for some of my loved ones this year.

Twilight fans

If you know anyone who is a fan of the twilight series there are a lot of gift ideas for them, but for something really special you might want to look at a twilight jewelry set. You can get a  complete set of each piece of the Cullen Crest worn by the characters in the movie, or you can find out who the person’s favorite character is and get them the corresponding piece of the Cullen family crest.

Adventurous Types:

Do you have someone who likes to get out, rough and tumble and play in the elements? A great idea for them, especially if they are into remote control vehicles is the XPV Super Terranator. This RC vehicle has 2 engines, 4 wheel drive, and 12 volts of power. It will get them anywhere they want to go.

Health Enthusiast:

For someone who is a health enthusiast, or suffers from back pain the best gift you can give is the freedom from this pain. If they’ve tried everything and maybe they are at the point where the only option is medication ~ check and see if they’ve tried inversion therapy. If they haven’t the Teeter Ups F5000 Inversion table ~ it might be the answer they’re looking for.

Part of the joy of the holidays is seeing the look on people’s faces when they open their gifts and see you’ve put so much thought and effort into choosing something that is just right for them. These gifts will give you that look ~ and they’ll be gifts remembered long after the thrill of the holidays is over.

If you’re wondering how to stop snoring, this may be a search for yourself or for someone with whom you’re trying to share a bed. Also, snoring can keep you up for hours and hours on end, and make you fidgety, irritable, and almost unable to function the next day. A chronic lack of sleep can also cause serious health problems and make you lethargic. Sometimes a person will fall asleep during the day when they shouldn’t because of someone’s snoring at night.

There are many things you might consider when it comes to how to stop snoring, and many homemade or simple remedies are just as effective as anything you’ll get from your doctor or dentist.Sure, if your doctor has told you that the only thing he or she can recommend regarding how to stop snoring for you is medication or a surgery, then or course you need to follow your physician’s advice. It’s not up to us to interfere with that! But for others, there are some simple plans and changes you can make to help you get past this bad habit.

How to Stop Snoring if Your Throat is Dry

For many people, snoring happens because their mouth and throat is very dry and scratchy. While they breathe through their mouth, the throat makes a really loud vibrating sound that we call snoring. Think about breathing right now - do you make that sound when you breathe through your nose? Not usually. Your nose is meant to be kept moist by all the mucus in there. It’s gross to think about, but a key in figuring out how to stop snoring is to figure out if your throat is very dry at night.Ask yourself if you wake up with a very dry mouth or an especially sore throat. Does it feel scratchy and irritated in the morning? Is your mouth sticky with plaque buildup? Of course everyone’s mouth is dry in the morning, but if you have some pain and discomfort, you may have your first clue in how to stop snoring. You need to keep your throat moist and maybe even coated throughout the night. Having a humidifier in the bedroom can be a great help, as can using certain sprays or drops that will add moisture to your throat. Sore throat sprays can do the same job as some stop snoring sprays, as they usually contain the same ingredients.

How to Stop Snoring if Your Nose is Plugged

If you have sinus problems, chances are you’re going to snore. You ought to breathe through your nose when you sleep, but if your nose is plugged up, this is impossible. A good step in figuring out how to stop snoring with a plugged nose is to figure out why it’s plugged in the first place. If it’s not a simple cold or temporary condition, see your doctor. Asthma or allergies should be treated with medication, and chronic breathing problems need more serious help.

Try to Deal with Cold Sores

Posted: under General hot topic.

Cold sores are actually brought on by a particular type of virus (the HSV-1, which is a version of the infamous herpes virus) that has the ability to make it quite painful to do things such as eat, drink, and sometimes even to sleep.  There are quite a few other symptoms that can be caused as well and these can include sore throat, fever and sometimes even a swelling around ones neck area.  Just the same as the more nasty type of herpes (which is caused by the HSV-2 virus), cold sores are extremely contagious and are very easily spread via types of physical contact.  It is extremely important to try and avoid things such as kissing, partaking in oral sex, or even feeling the blisters.

What causes cold sores to suddenly appear?  It can be several things, including fatigue, stress, injury to the lips, gums, or mouth, allergies, other types of infections, and even dental surgery or treatment.  Doctors can easily diagnose cold sores, and often only a visual examination is necessary.

When it comes to preventing cold sores, there isn’t much you can do.  If you come into contact with someone who has a cold sore, you may want to wash your hands frequently and try not to touch your face (especially your mouth, nose, and eyes).

Cold sores can be treated with an antiviral medicine prescribed by your doctor.  This medication specifically works against the herpes virus, can help relieve many symptoms, and can make the cold sores vanish more quickly.  You might also find an over-the-counter product that helps, but unlike a prescription medication, these products generally only combat the effects of a cold sore and don’t help get rid of it.  Finally, cold sores usually vanish within about a week to ten days after they appear.

Acid Reflux: Surgical Treatments

Posted: under General hot topic.
Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

If nothing else has worked, there is an option for an Acid Reflux Surgery.

This option is used after trying drugs without success or if the patient has severe bleeding or other problems that may call for surgery.

The standard surgical procedure for this is called Nissen fundoplication. This was developed in the 1950’s, a long and serious surgery that required the patient to be hospitalized for at least a week. You would have a painful recovery time of at least a month and end up with a 10 inch scar.

The results were slow and often the patient would have trouble swallowing. The Acid Reflux symptoms would even seem to get worse.

Much has improved over the last 25 years with laparoscopic surgery. Most of the problems are now gone. The availability of better pathological diagnostic tests has contributed to a better selection of surgical candidates.

The surgical procedure can be compared to securing the contents of a room in the case of a typhoon or fast flood.

Acid reflux surgery is preformed to strengthen the Lower Esophageal Sphincter muscle by giving it support from stomach tissue. The Lower Esophageal Sphincter is the opening from the esophagus to the stomach. Therefore it makes sense to use tissue from the stomach. It is stretched to work around the sphincter and gives support when permanently established there.

The stomach portion or hiatal hernia which is bulging up, is pushed back down into place. The Hiatal hernia sac is pulled below the diaphragm and attached and stitched there. Abdominal pressure may be reduced by strengthening the Esophageal Sphincter and dealing with the hernia. This will provide added protection against the backflow of gastric juices and food mixtures.

Ulcers and any scarring in the Esophageal passage may be treated as well during the surgery. The success rate for this type of surgery is about 95% allowing the patient relief from Acid Reflux and no longer needing any medication.
