Many accessories made for cars have appeared during the previous decades.  During the 50s and the 60s, car accessories were mostly made for the car’s mechanical and exterior.  Believe it or not, speedometer and fuel gauges were not as common in cars in those days compared to the modern cars of today.  Even basic exterior parts such as mudflaps did not always come with each brand new vehicle.

People who owned cars during the 1950s and 60s have learned to add several car gadgets to their own cars to put in both style and functionality.  These people often referred to as greasers or grease-monkeys.  Few or more changes were performed on their cars or their parents’ cars to fine-tune them and make them appear more personalized to their own flair.  Accessorizing cars back then involved replacing and taking out parts and replacing them with adequate or more powerful car accessories or parts.  Modified cars like these are usually given the name hot-rods.  From then on, different car makers have included parts and accessories that were not originally included.

Each year, cars develop in terms of horse power, efficiency, comfort and convenience.  A car engine’s power and performance have been enhanced all throughout the years with the way they’re built and what type of materials they’re made of.  Efficiency in terms of a car’s fuel consumption have to a certain extent been dictated by economic and practical reasons.  In the course of the oil embargo of the 1970s, a number of earlier manufactured cars which consume hefty quantities of gasoline have lost their market appeal in favor of smaller and more economical cars.  In addition to today’s rising fuel prices, people are buying cars that offer a much lower engine displacement while enjoying a number of car amenities such as automatic windows, cup holders, and stereos, most of which were uncommon luxuries of 50s, 60s, and 70’s cars.

One particular form of car accessory which is supposed to minimize gas consumption is called the super turbo charger.  This car gadget can fit at the palm of your hand and it is installed stuck between a car’s carburetor or EFI manifold and the air filter.  The device claims to reduce air pollution and cut gasoline consumption by up to fifty percent.

Certain car accessories supply additional functions to make cars look more sleek and for car travel to be more pleasurable.  Others serve as protection just like those car door guard edge strip.  Not only are they cheap, they’re also effective.  This rubbery strip may save you and your insurance a large amount of money in the event you accidentally hit another car while opening your door.

Car gadgets and accessories have provided different functionalities and conveniences for car owners worldwide.  With these gadgets, people can now listen to their selected mp3 tracks, watch their favorite TV shows on the road, or even heat their cup of coffee.  As cars evolve, so will different innovative car accessories and products.
