Hobbies like reading, scrapebooking, writing fiction, researching family history can do wonders for a senior’s physical and mental well being. Some seniors prefer hobbies like ball room dancing while others like quieter hobbies like stamp collecting. It is completely up to you to decide whether to pursue the traditional stereotypical hobbies (like gardening or golf) or to begin with something totally wild like skydiving. Try the hobbies you always wanted to do when you were younger. Most seniors do have hobbies and use them to pass the time wisely. If the hobby you are interested in requires a minimal of physical activity, you will still benefit physically from the mental activity. Your brain loves to think and stay active. Remember the old cliche, “Never stop learning.” Well, this evens applies more as we get older and helps us maintain proper mental functions.

Once you decide to undertake a new hobby, check your local newspaper. Look for gatherings or information about others doing the same hobby. You will be able to meet other hobby enthusiasts interested and just as enthusiastic about your hobby as you are. This feeling of enthusiasm can be quite contagious and fun for all. You will find other hobbyists ready to socialize, full of new ideas, and time spent together will become something to look forward to.

Teen Depression - How?

Apparently, in this present world, you can find many cures for depression, but it’s not easy to find the real cause behind whats troubling you so that it can be treated naturally. More and more cases of depression in teens are being reported today by doctors and scientists. This may be because more teens are asking for help with their condition, because doctors are getting better at diagnosing the condition, or simply because there are more and more cases to be reported.

We can’t ignore the fact of teen depression as it is spreading rapidly. For whatever the factor it might be but some cases are so serious which have ended up in tragedy. You have to take action against it if you or a family member of yours is suffering from depression.

It is basically due to a missing chemical in the brain which makes the sufferers not have a good mood. There can be physical or internal factors which affect the sufferer badly due to which depression is the end.

If the required amount of this chemical is not produced then you will anyway lead to depression. It is also caused in teens mostly due the chemical imbalance. Many other physical causes like fluctuation of hormones which is common during puberty can also lead to depression.

You can get rid of some of these physical causes of depression as time goes by in teens. When they grow older there hormones begin to level off. Still you shouldn’t wait for this to happen and ignore the causes of this condition.

Bullying is the major factor in causing teen depression. If a person is unable to find an answer to his or her problems then also ends up in depression, it may be due to a bad marriage, a bad debt, or a tiring job and many more reasons.

Teens and kids are often helpless when it comes to being bullied in school. Where as adults can soon come out of problems. Teens are often afraid to discuss such things with their parents also.

They often can’t bear the humiliation and them being unable to do anything about it. There are many other ways in which a bullied teen often falls into the path of depression.

For instance if they live in an abusive home or even if one parent is negligent or abusive, if they are using any kind of drugs, if they have failing grades, or if they feel they are under tremendous amounts of pressure to perform academically or athletically, these factors too can cause depression in teens.

Teens should approach their parents whenever they are stuck in a problem, and parents should help them find a solution not punish them. They also need a lot of family support which will also help them to recover.

Spanish learning with audio programs.

Would you like to learn spanish? But, how do you do it? Where do you start?

Fortunately there are many options for all of us out there who want the knowledge of learning a second language. There are many forms of learning available to bring out the multilingual being within you.

We are going to talk about learning spanish with the use of audio courses.

When it comes to learning Spanish, audio tapes and CDs have several advantages and several disadvantages. It is easy to get the proper flow and pronunciations of the spoken language down through listening to other people speak. By hearing how others do it, your brain will more than likely try to copy their speech patterns.

However, it can be difficult for audio tapes or CDs to teach you how to write the language or teach the rules of sentence structure. While good for learning how to say certain phrases properly, some do not do a great job of conveying the why of language structure. That is to say, while the phrases that they will teach you will be correct, any phrase you attempt to say that you haven’t studied through the tapes may be wrong because you don’t understand why Spanish works the way it does. Audio tapes are a great way how to learn Spanish phrases before a trip.

Another good thing about audio is that some courses offer really good content for decent prices. So, if you are interested in audio courses check out this Rocket Spanish review, for a great course to start with.

There Are Many Famous People With Dyslexia

Dyslexia is a neurological disorder for which the symptoms are that the brain seems to be unable to properly interpret the signals it is receiving from the eyes and sometimes ears. Dyslexia usually shows itself in the difficulties it causes with reading, spelling and converting written symbols (letters) into words and sounds. The condition is quite widespread with as much as 10% having to deal with some form of dyslexia.

In the last 25 years we have learned a great deal about dyslexia, especially in the last 15 years. Dyslexia in children is now routinely screened for and detected in elementary school and before. We now know that children with dyslexia learn differently and need special training to overcome the difficulties they might otherwise experience.

Those of us who finished grade school more than 15 years ago had a rougher go of it. Most dyslexics got branded as “slow learners” or “underachievers” and were stygmatized by this type of label. They felt shame and embarrassment and tried hard to conceal their differences.

It is estimated that some 95% of adult dyslexics are still unaware of their condition. A simple fast dyslexia test could identify their condition and set them on the road to overcoming their dyslexia problem(s).

Dyslexia symptoms in adults include problems with reading, a reluctance to read anything aloud, difficulties in transcribing messages received by phone and being employed in positions below what their intelligence and experience would seem to warrant, these, among a longish list of other related symptoms.

Most of what has been learned about dyslexia comes from clinical studies, focussing on the problems of dyslexia. However, there is a positive side to dyslexia too. Dyslexic people seem to learn to think in different ways from non-dyslexics. They learn to visualize the whole picture rather than the details of the parts. Many excel in fields where this is important, fields such as architecture, graphic arts, acting and business.

This happening is so common and the trend is so pronounced that such people are said to be “blessed with dyslexia”! There are many, many famous people with dyslexia. Famous dyslexics include Jay Leno, talk show host and comedian, Anthony Hopkins, actor, Anderson Cooper, American journalist and entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson.

The key point for adult dyslexics is to find out whether or not they are dyslexic. If you have any of the possible symptoms you should get tested as soon as possible. The sooner you know that dyslexia is a problem to you the sooner these problems can be overcome.
