For many years the American government has been encouraging the auto makers to build fuel efficient vehicles. The goal is to create a safe and clean environment while decreasing the dependency of fossil fuels. Thus there has been increased production of the hybrid cars. With plethora of hybrid car production, a question is arising that whether the American muscle car are nearing their end or not? Well, we know that gas-guzzling SUVs are no longer popular so why will muscle cars remain?

The Americans are pondering more over the V8 powered performance cars since it has become the new American pie. The people are getting more interested in conserving the fuel economy cars rather than the vehicles like the Ford Shelby GT500 and want good fuel mileage. According to the CAFÉ (Corporate Average Fuel Economy), which always focus on improving automotive efficiency, started a new rule where the muscles cars have to maintain 35 MPG from now on. However after election of the new president, there has been certain changes in this law for American muscle cars and the standard for muscle cars has bee raised to 37 MPG.

With such stringent fuel laws, it will difficult for cars like Chrysler 300C SRT-8 to survive. Only one American muscle car with bad fuel economy would be responsible for bringing down the automaker’s fleet average.

For overcoming this storm, Ford is developing twin-turbo 3.5L which is an eco boost engine and this would surely boosting the future of American muscle cars. This new type of muscle car engine will be introduced within a couple of years. In comparison to V8 engines, there are fewer chances that people wouldn’t buy muscle cars. So to rise in the level of competition the muscles cars would definitely change but it won’t die.
