Do-It-Yourself Party Decorating Ideas

Posted: under General hot topic.
Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Some people consider it futile to explore very complex party decorating ideas when most decorations are basically the same. Party themes often make you seek for the unusual. You will always need different decorations for a kid’s birthday party than a cocktail or a graduation party. Decorations help people get into the atmosphere, telling them that this is the right place and time to be.

Select from more party decorating ideas based on the specificity of the location. Complex and numerous decorations can only be used in very large spaces. Over-decorating a small space makes it look crowded and even smaller. The mood of the party also influences the party decorating ideas you put into practice. Thus, for adult parties, decorations follow different patterns than for children. Children’s parties will always look funkier.

Overdoing is the biggest risk and mistake of party decoration, but things could go wrong with the choice of colors and the overall arrangements too. In many cases, less is more, and if placed in a strategic way few decorations can be very efficient in achieving the desired result. There’s no point in buying very expensive decorative items because they are a waste on the long run. Huge chandeliers and vases can ruin your budget, and you can do well without them.

Lighting should occupy a special place in all the party decorating ideas and design categories because you can accomplish so many things with some well-positioned lights. The lighting system needs to be a match for the location. Very bright lights are not good for garden parties and neither are dim lights for formal cocktail parties. The idea is to match the specificity of the location and create an atmosphere that renders a feeling of harmony, relaxation and great fun.

Decorating party ideas are not such a big issue for casual parties with family and friends, and you should not bother too much unless you take a great liking in decorating. If you use your common sense, it should be enough. Nevertheless, for more official and formal events, like wedding reception parties, you could even ask a professional designer about the suitability of certain party decorating ideas, so that you may stick to the appropriate etiquette and formality level.

The Increasing Importance of Recycling

Posted: under General hot topic.
Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Right through history, recycling has existed in one form or another. Even as long ago as 400 BC signs of early recycling are known to have taken place. Archaeological reports show that historical waste dumps contained fewer of what is known today as household waste, such as pots, tools and ash, which demonstrates that people were, even back then, keen to reuse materials at a time when natural resources weren’t so freely available. Little did they know that what they were starting would play such a huge role in shaping the world for future generations

Indeed it could be argued that the old ‘rag-and-bone’ man was just an early recycler collectingdiscarded goods on his horse and cart, before reusing or turning the collected items into something new.

During periods such as the World War Years, recycling and re-use were common place as natural resources became much more difficult to come by. As well as food being rationed, certain materials such as metal and fibre were largely permitted only for use by the government in support of military operations, to meet manufacturing requirements often in the production of weaponry.

Due to rising energy costs, the need to recycle aluminium increased in the 1970’s.. As a material aluminium utilises much less energy in the production process than some other materials. Also it was much sought after because of its non rusting properties. The need for aluminium saw the rise of scrap metal dealers who were willing to pay money in exchange for good quality metal. Also, in the seventies in parts of the United States of America, the first vehicles were seen to be collecting waste with a separate trailer for the collection of recyclable materials being towed behind the vehicle. This was mainly large bulky items such as bedsteads and old carpets.

To the late 1980’s, early 1990’s and as the awareness of managing the global environmental state increased amongst worldwide governments, the focus upon recycling really started to gather momentum. In the UK, the government imposed recycling targets upon Local Authorities and with the introduction of the new legislation upon the waste industry, recycling schemes really began to take off. The once commonly well known waste disposal companies, began to call themselves waste management companies and demonstrated through the offer of waste collection and recyclable material collection that waste needed to be handled more effectively. Local skip companies needed to become better at what they did.

Today, many hundreds of materials and products can be recycled, ranging from paper, card, glass and plastics, to mobile phones, electrical items, printer cartridges, textiles, clothing and concrete. The demand for different types of collection receptacles has increased dramatically.

What is Recycling?

The term recycling describes the process of reprocessing used materials into new or nearly new products to avoid the need for potentially useful materials or products to be discarded. Essentially it is diverting waste from landfill.

Recycling plays a key role in a world where climate change is high on the environmental agenda. It helps to reduce the need to unnecessarily send waste materials and products to landfill or other waste disposal options. This in turn diminishes the need or the reliance upon consuming fresh or new raw materials, reduces energy use and air and water pollution, all of which contribute to lower greenhouse gas emissions.

Recycling is probably most evident through the recycling services now provided by local councils for domestic refuse and recycling collections and by modern waste management companies who generally offer a full range of waste and recycling collection services. Some companies, who have traditionally focused only on the collection of recyclable products, are now extending their service offering to collect general waste as well.

Almost all of your rubbish gathered today will go to some form of energy from waste handling facility where any recyclables may be extracted for reprocessing. Your left over waste may go to land fill or may be utilised for energy recovery.

In the waste sector, the common promotional activity surrounds the waste hierarchy - ‘reduce, reuse, recycle and recover’. This four R slogan is a simple message designed for a far reaching audience. Think about how you can reduce your waste. Can the waste products or materials be reused? Can the waste product or material be recycled or recovered?

The waste hierarchy is a strategy which many waste management companies and local authorities consider when developing new waste management strategies. The strategy is intended to focus the mind around preventing waste being produced in the first place. Consider the options for reuse and recycling but ultimately minimise the amount of waste produced at the end of the cycle.

So the emphasis is very much on the entire production process. The waste hierarchy extends much wider than to waste management companies and local authorities. Working groups have been set up to bring many industries together to consider the entire waste cycle. For example, the manufacturer of a product needs to consider how the product is to be manufactured. Can parts be used which can later be recycled or reused? Can the amount of packaging which surrounds the product be reduced? When the product reaches the retailer, is it necessary for the product to be placed within an outer package? Once the retailer sells the product, what will the buyer do with the unwanted elements of the purchase, i.e. the packaging? How will the packaging be collected and where will it go? Will it return to a recycling plant, for onward transfer to a reprocessing plant, where the cycle begins all over again?

How are Materials Collected for Recycling?

Legislation now dictates that all waste should be treated to avoid the amount of recyclables and unnecessary waste going direct to landfill. Since 1996, UK government has enforced a landfill levy on all waste disposed of within landfill. The rate of tax has increased considerably in recent years rising from the original level of £8 per ton, to today’s rate of £40 per ton. The UK government has previously announced that this will increase further to £48 per ton by the end of 2010/11. This rate applies to all general waste streams, although there is a lower rate for inert materials. Sending waste directly to landfill is an expensive option and finding suitable methods to divert waste away from landfill is now a priority.

So, the message to everyone is clear, segregate your waste to reduce the volume of waste going to landfill. Traditionally, at home or at work, as soon as you place waste in the bin , it is forgotten about. Someone else will collect it and take it away. Nowadays, at home and at work, recycling is being encouraged through the provision of containers in which to place specific recyclable materials. At home, the children are often the keen recyclers.

Perhaps the most common materials to be seen being collected for recycling are paper, card, glass, metals and plastics. But the opportunity to recycle a vast number of materials or products continues to grow. Although technically not seen as recycling, food waste and garden waste collections are increasing, where the food or garden waste is taken back to a plant for processing into a reusable or saleable compost product.

One of several methods to make certain we don’t vanish below a mountain of waste materials is to generate extra energy recovering facilities to ensure that our waste products becomes a very importantresource.

The methods of collecting materials or waste to be recycled is also increasing and becoming more noticeable within local communities. Dedicated collection sites, often referred to as a bring bank sites, are springing up in supermarket car parks to encourage customers of the supermarket to return such items as bottles, newspapers or card to the containers on their way into the supermarket. Shoppers are therefore encouraged to bring back their recyclables.

Local Authority waste collection crews or their appointed contractors will collect refuse and recyclables from the kerbside usually at the front of your home. Collection from domestic premises generally remains the responsibility of the local council and many have now employed the provision of bins in which to collect specified recyclable materials or products.

In the industrial and commercial sector, waste management contractors offer separate containers in which the customer deposits the appropriate waste stream or recyclable material ready for collection. The containers will often be clearly labeled as to which recyclable product should be placed within that container or bin. Alternatively, the bins will be colour coded to identify which recyclable materials should be placed within which bins. Waste management companies also may have to deal with special requests from the customer.

The key to a successful recycling initiative is residents about what can be recycled and how. In the commercial world getting the co-operation of office employees is crucial. The introduction of any recycling scheme must ensure that in asking staff to separate waste for recycling, it does not become time consuming and affect the efficiency of what employees should be doing in their work.

The Recycling Process

Various collection systems exist for the collection of the recyclable material . Whichever collection system is employed , the materials are taken to a materials recycling facility where they will be segregated from other wastes. This could be done manually or by using mechanical separators.

To begin the recycling process from a collection point of view, the more recyclable material which can be separated at source, i.e. at home or in the work place, the more efficient it will be for the waste collector. That is why separate containers are supplied to the waste producer to encourage segregation at source. If card can be collected on a vehicle, which will collect no other waste material, the card will be kept clean and therefore will have a higher value when it reaches the processing plant. Similarly, dedicated glass collection vehicles are used to collect only glass. Apart from the obvious health and safety reasons and the weight of collected glass, it will have a much higher value if the collected glass load is not mixed with other waste. Uncontaminated recyclables will have a much higher value than contaminated materials.

Once collected, the recyclable materials can be taken direct to a reprocessing plant, if the load contains only that specific type of material. So a dedicated glass collection vehicle could take the load directly to a glass processing plant.

If mixed recyclables have been collected such as paper and card within the same container, it may be necessary for the collector to take the load to a materials recycling facility to unload and allow the load to be segregated into separate paper and card bundles for onward transfer to a paper or card processing plant. Whichever method is used, the recyclable material collected will usually be segregated or cleaned before going through to a reprocessing plant to be processed to a new resource and ultimately used as a new product or in manufacturing.

One of the major waste disposal companies has actually transformed its direction altogether. Instead of just being a waste collection company, in these changing situations Biffa has refocused into being a provider of electricity from waste, as is shown in their different strap line power behind waste.

The Increasing Importance of Recycling

In the UK around 35% of waste collected from households is recycled or composted. Whilst in the commercial and industrial sector, the volume of waste sent to landfill has declined substantially in recent years and the amount of waste now being diverted for recycling or reuse by this sector has risen above the volumes going to landfill. But there is still much to be done to increase rates further in this sector.

Landfill continues to play an important role in the management of waste across the UK as not all wastes can be recycled and some are more suited to landfill disposal than by any other means. However, it’s not just the increasing costs of disposing of waste directly in landfill which is making recycling a more appealing option for businesses. Landfill is becoming scarce, with some experts suggesting that the amount of space available across all UK landfill sites, has less than ten years existence remaining before all sites are deemed to be full. Such countries as Dubai have filled parts of the coastline with their waste and created useful land area to extend the boundaries of their country.

In recent years, waste management companies have had to change their focus, and start to consider and invest in new technologies, such as energy from waste plants, anaerobic digestion plants and mechanical biological treatment plants, as alternatives to landfill. Local Authorities have also changed their views by undertaking detailed strategic reviews as to how waste under their jurisdiction should be handled. In some cases this has meant that unitary authorities are implementing plans to introduce long term contracts, usually around 25 years in length, through which to manage their entire waste management requirements. These contracts will often include the need to build a facility through which to handle all waste generated across the city by segregating all waste streams. The contracts may also include the collection of all waste and recyclables from homes across the area. So the face of waste management is changing rapidly. The days of just throw it in the dustbin have disappeared and the advent of new technologies are upon us.

Conclusion

Recycling is now a way of life and is here to stay. It has evolved over the years from something that was undertaken without any real thought behind it. The trusty rag and bone man was just trying to make a living. Today, many blue chip organisations are setting out plans for a ‘zero to landfill’ waste policy, where the intention is very clear - reduce waste, reuse waste and recycle waste, but no waste must end up in landfill.

Many homes across the country now have some form of bin in which to separate waste for recycling. The need to separate newspapers, aluminium cans and plastic bottles are almost common place. Whilst in industrial and commercial sectors, there is an increasing list of items to consider for recycling such as printer cartridges, office paper, metal and electrical equipment.

Ideally the whole process would be a complete cycle such as it was in the days of the horse. However the advent of new technologies will accelerate further the way in which our waste is to be managed in the future, but it is highly unlikely that we will ever reach the ultimate waste free society. There will always be a need for waste to be disposed of somewhere, somehow.

Wonderful Ideas On Having A Second Baby Shower

Posted: under General hot topic.
Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Baby showers are one of the best ways for new moms and dads to get everything the need to start off on the right foot. It’s a time-honored way for the parents’ friends and family to show that they can count on their support. For some people, holding a shower for a second baby was not considered proper, as the parents probably already had most of the items they needed. However, having a second-baby shower is still appropriate, if you make certain adjustments.

Instead of a full shower, you could host a mini-shower, where guests only bring those necessities that every baby has to have - bath accessories, undershirts, diapers, etc. You can also make a list of whatever the parents say they need but did not receive with their first child. Another idea is to have a shower dedicated to the mom, where guests bring gifts that will help her relax during the last weeks of her pregnancy and after the birth. These items can be both useful and a treat for mom, like extra soft slippers for the long night’s she’ll spend getting in and out of bed.

You might want to make the shower focused on mom, reminding her that she will not be pregnant forever with gifts like wine or her favorite hard liquor, or savory salty snacks she may have had to give up. You can also pool your money together to purchase gift certificates for spa treatments or an elegant dinner, though if you can prearrange babysitting, even better. You can also have a strategic meeting with the father-to-be and the closest friends and family of the mom before the party, in order to make up a helping hands calendar.

Some tasks that you could arrange for include getting the house organized and laundry done so mom and baby can come home to a clean house, helping transport the older child to his/her activities, or going along to help out on a big grocery or warehouse club run. You can then give mom the finished calendar at the shower, with all the contact information in case of changes. It may be that both mom and the baby in fact don’t need anything new. Or, consider having a simple party, featuring good food, music, and the mom’s loved ones.

An optional activity is to have guests purchase small baby items and then donate them to a local shelter or charity. You might also ask everyone to bring small portions of prepared food that can be frozen or stored (this is known as a “freezer party”). This will definitely help out mom in the last days before her due date and also those following the birth. It is important to hold this shower quite close to the due date, of course, and to be sure that the mom has enough freezer or storage space to make it work.

Finally, if the new baby is going to be several years younger than the next-oldest sibling (a so-called “caboose” baby), you can feel free to host a full-on baby shower. A lot of moms and dads won’t likely have even the big items (cribs, etc.), anymore, or they could be outdated in terms of safety requirements.

And remember, even if the baby shower is a small one or doesn’t feature enormous gifts, the whole reason you are there is to simply show the mom that she and her new baby are cared for.

Multi Level Marketing Basics - The MLM Business Model

Posted: under General hot topic.
Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

MLM, or Multi Level Marketing, when combined with the Internet, creates a powerful formula for creating a successful home business and achieving financial freedom.

This business model is used by hundreds of companies to move their goods and services to the end consumer.  In this article, my goal is to provide you with information on what this industry is and what it is not.

You can only make an informed educated decision as to whether or not this business concept if right for you if you have the required information upon which to make that decision.  I hope to provide some of that information in this article.

Multi Level Marketing is simply a business model for moving products and services from production to the consumer using independent distributors with a multi level commission payout plan.  Since distributors can recruit other distributors and establish teams that work together, this business model is often also called Network Marketing.

There are many myths about MLM companies, including that they are illegal pyramid schemes or scams.  For true Multi Level Marketing companies, nothing could be further from the truth.  Unfortunately, those who believe these myths, simply do not understand how MLM companies work.

The first thing that you need to know is that MLM is not illegal and it is not a pyramid scheme.  While the organizational structure resembles a pyramid in shape, this is true of almost all businesses.  There are far more workers in the lower ranks of any business then at the top, if not, the business would collapse.  Not everyone in the company can be CEO or Vice President.  If fact, Multi Level Marketing companies are one hundred percent legal and many multi-million dollar companies use this business model to market their products.

Some well known Multi Level Marketing companies include Herbalife, Mary Kay Cosmetics, Shaklee, Amway, Tupperware, Princess house (a subsidiary of Colgate Palmolive), A. L. Williams (Insurance), Melaleuca, U.S. Sprint, MCI, and NSA.  Companies such as these have been around for decades.

There are hundreds more MLM companies and just like other companies, some are good and some are not so good.  But MLM is certainly here to stay and it is an explosive growth field!  In fact, increasingly you will find more and more Fortune 500 companies employing the Network Marketing business model for some portion of their marketing portfolio!

So why are MLM companies and programs becoming so popular?  Well, the business model offers a wonderful opportunity for the “little guy” to start his own business on a part time basis with very little investment money upfront, but with a large income potential if she or he is willing to put in some work!  Contrary to what some people would want you to believe, MLM is certainly not a get rich quick scheme and requires effort to grow your business.

John Paul Getty is often quoted as having said that he would always prefer earning 1% of a hundred peoples efforts than 100% of his own efforts.  And that is precisely what Multi Level Marketing is all about.  The Multi Level Marketing sales force members are not actually employees of the company, but instead they are independent distributors who are compensated for their efforts by commission based on the amount of product moved by not only themselves, but also by those whom they recruit as distributors.

As each distributor recruits others to become distributors, they create what is known as a downline and in addition to their own retail sales commissions, they earn a wholesale commission on the amount of products their downline distributors move to consumers.  This process goes on for some designated number of levels and is where the term “multi level” originates.

The more people a distributor can recruit for his downline, the larger will be their total commissions.  The number of levels that a distributor will earn override commissions on will depend upon the company’s compensation plan but five to seven or more levels is not unusual.  These wholesale override commissions can quickly add up for distributors with a large downline.

A strong incentive is thus created not only for a distributor to recruit more distributors for their downline, but also to train them to move products as well.  Thus a successful distributor will want to duplicate their success by teaching their downline members how to be successful.  By making their downline members successful, they make themselves more successful.

Building large stable residual income is therefore the result of successfully recruiting, training, and retaining others.  The better one is at doing these things, the larger their income will become.  While it is not necessarily easy, it can be very rewarding.

Want to be your own boss?  Millions of people are earning a solid income using this business model working from home.   A telephone, basic computer, fax machine, a HUGE ambition, and the knowledge of how to proceed to grow your business are all it really takes!  Are you ready to explore the opportunities that Multi Level Marketing offers?

If so, did you know that sponsoring people into your MLM opportunity is completely irrelevant to making money in network marketing? (And no, I’m not talking about retailing your company’s products). Find out how you can get people to PAY YOU to prospect them… rather than you having to pay for your prospects. Click here to learn more at => The Renegade Network Marketer

My first investment and already a return of 90%

After realizing my participations in a company last month I was faced with something that most of you would think is simple to solve: Where do I invest my funds? Well, this might seem very easy to some of you but for me it was quite a real decision.

Not if earning money would be hard enough, I now had to discover that finding the best investing for my hard-earned monies would be even more difficult.

After doing quite some research in the internet I found a homepage with Best Investing Tips which offers its services to the sophisticated investor for free. Looking at the extremely high returns the company claims to have made in the past I got curious and signed up for a free recommendation. It didn’t take long and I received a phone call from one of the investment specialists. Mr Yates explained the basic rules of investing in gold stocks and pre-IPO in very simple words so that even I could follow it it perfectly.

There was not for one minute any sales pressure that you would expect from a salesman that is trying to move you into an commitment. The opposite was the case really as Mr Yates took his time to answer all my questions and objections.

After a very interesting and very informative conversation I decided to give it a go and committed to invest $2500 into a Gold Stock. The account opening procedures were very simple and a few emails later my portfolio was ready for trading.

Today, after 3 months into the investment my shares are up 90% and I am in a position to take out my investment of $2500 and let the gains continue. Realistically I am seeking a 300% gain within 6 months but let’s see how far this can gain as some of the stock recommendations reached up to 2500% in less than two months.

Some online stores sell several varieties of dining furniture, living room furniture and bedroom furniture that are often constructed from the following materials: pine, oak, beech, dark wood and glass.

Furniture choice is often based on the interior design and theme of the home. For example, for a contemporary look, having a natural wood furniture collection made of oak can be very attractive. Another modern trend that has recently emerged is the popularity of mirrored furniture which can make a very stylish addition to any home.

Remember to always search for quality furniture and spend as much as you can comfortably afford, as this will make an excellent investment over a long period of time. The temptation to buy cheap furniture should be avoided if possible, as it is likely to be of low quality and will need to be replaced much sooner than higher quality furniture. Quality, elegant and durable furniture is often more affordable than you may realise due to the availability of low rate finance products that allow you to spread your purchase over several years in some cases.

A vital step in beating the effects of old age is having healthy eating habits, it’s very important not to eat too much of any one food type, particularly if it contains a lot of fat or grease. Each person is different in their dietary needs, and it’s very important to discover which food types that best suits you, there are several books that can help you to decide which foods will be of most benefit for your body type. As a general guide, a healthy diet of five fruits or vegetables per day, and grain along with moderate portions of meat is recommended for those want to live a more healthy life. Exercise is considered by many experts to be one of the most important considerations in anti aging.  Gentle exercise taken in moderation provides the body with many benefits, for instance it stimulates the blood flow helping to clear those blocked veins and arteries, it builds healthier muscles, and increased bone stability so helping to offset the effects of osteoporosis. If you want to help reduce the effects of aging you will benefit from a regular exercise program. Set moderate objectives, trying to over do things at first is  not a good idea and will probably cause more harm than good.
